The Altar/Rosary Society’s main purposes are to spread devotion to Our Blessed Mother by recitation of the Rosary and assist in the care of the Holy Altar, Sanctuary, and Altar Linens.
Activities include but are not limited to:
The Altar/Rosary Society is open to all parish adults. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at the church, September, November, February, and April.
This group welcomes and hosts parish events and gatherings. On the first Sunday of the month, the Hospitality Ministry hosts Coffee hour after all masses. We currently have an open gym for the children of young families so they too can enjoy fellowship with our parish family. It is a great way to celebrate Mass and meet our fellow parishioners.
The Southern Tier Men's Breakfast is a group that meet's on the third Saturday of each month in the Church Hall. There are small group discussions, a guest speaker, and a hot breakfast prepared by the Knights of Columbus! Please call the Rectory at 607-748-7417 or email mfetsko@syrdio.org to reserve your place by 3 p.m. of the Wednesday before the breakfast.
The over-50 Luncheon is a monthly social event for the senior community, combining faith, food, and friendship. Held on the first Friday of the month (except for summer months), it begins with a prayer service in the church and is followed by a catered luncheon in the church hall. It is an opportunity for seniors to gather, pray, and enjoy a delicious meal with others in our parish family.
For approximately six years, the OLGC Parish Book Club has been bringing book lovers together. There are many different reasons members join this club. It ensures you make time to read, you develop more diverse reading habits, it’s a way to stimulate life-long learning, it offers a chance for guilt-free escapism, it allows you to delve deeper into the book, and it encourages new perspectives. Our members, however, would all agree it allows you to share a love of reading and make new friends!
We meet the 2 nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30 am in the church hall. Every member is asked to choose a book they’d like to discuss, and are given the choice on if they would like to lead the discussion. For more information, email Diane Donahue at d2donahue@aol.com.
